Ginelle Perez is the Director of the Student Parent Center at the University of California at Berkeley (commonly referred to by community members as “CAL”). The University of California at Berkeley’s Student Parent Center provides a centralized multi-purpose campus resource, where students can seek informed advice, develop leadership skills, engage in informal study groups, nurse babies, change diapers, celebrate achievements, recover from setback and form lasting friendships.
As a former student parent, Ginelle returned to CAL in a career staff position as the Student Parent Program’s Academic Achievement & Retention Counselor. In this role she is actively involved in supporting both graduate and undergraduate student parents studying at UC Berkeley.
In addition to her expertise as a member of the NCSPP advisory board, Ginelle oversaw her university’s participation in the Research Study of Baccalaureate Student Parent Programs, and is actively engaged with NCSPP’s Find Your Way research study within the Western Association of Schools and College’s jurisdiction.
Ginelle completed her B.A. in Social Welfare in 2009 at the University of California at Berkeley. As a Berkeley student she actively participated in the Incentive Awards Program, Student Parent Association for Recruitment and Retention (SPARR), SAGE Scholars Program, Alternative Spring Break, and was also a Chicana/Latina Scholarship recipient. Post graduation, she received her Masters in Education in Higher Education Administration and Student Services from the University of Southern California. Ginelle is originally from Redwood City, CA and has two daughters.
