Dr. Threlfall’s research uses restricted data from the National Postsecondary Student Aid Survey (NPSAS) to identify pertinent national, regional and local data on parenting college students.
This research will be used to create fact sheets, briefs and reports advancing knowledge of the U.S. student parent population. The project also aims to create an online database, currently in development at George Mason University, through which a college or university can estimate their own student parent population based on their institutional profile (e.g. student population, region, urban/suburban/rural, institution type, etc.) providing estimates based on the average profile for institutions meeting the selected characteristics.
